ESSENTIAL OIL RESEARCH
Essential Oils have major benefits both topically and aromatically. There is research to support these findings, some of which I have listed the articles of research studies at the base of this page. I am only sharing a specific collection of the oil qualities that we have come across here on Beez' List that have shown research and data, because I am a big advocate for studies and research, especially this day and age where everyone is slapping false labels on their products to boost sales. Beez has compiled a list of benefits for her line of Butters and Bath Bars that will help you decide which scents and oils may be best for you. We will continue looking up new research and studies to update our list and show our sources at the bottom of the page so you can see the studies as well. There are additional benefits to these oils that are not on our page, which may very well be true however we are going to wait for more data to support the findings. Examples include health benefits such as hormone balance, blood pressure and metabolic effects of essential oils. We also realize like the research of bee products such as bee pollen, propolis and honey; often research is very difficult to compile on a consistent and relevant basis due to the nature of what is being studied. For example some studies have shown a the wound healing effects of propolis and the health benefits of bee pollen, but the research will vary around the world and around the country. This is because pollen and tree sap (where propolis is derived from) varies from mile to mile. Studies where there are controlled sources are more reliable however that does not mean we should exclude the more difficult findings.
To help a bit with the understanding of how aromatherapy works in the body, I copied this as a direct quote from The National Library of Medicine, just because it was nice synopsis of the systems in our body that are being affected and how they interact with one another to produce the effects of essential oils.
"One of the methods used in aromatherapy is release of odor to a particular environment. The proposed mechanism of action of the respiratory administration of aromatherapy begins with the absorption of volatile odor molecules through the nasal mucosa. Odor molecules are then transformed into chemical signals, which travel to the olfactory bulb and then other parts of the limbic system of the brain and the cerebral cortex and the olfactory sensory center at the base of the brain, interacting with the neuropsychological framework to produce characteristic physiological and psychological effects on target tissues."
